Surviving Chuckle Brother Paul sells ‘2 metre you’ Covid masks in hilarious play on the double act’s famous catchphrase

The surviving Chuckle Brother has started selling face masks emblazoned with the words ‘2 metre you’ in a hilarious play on the double act’s famous catchphrase. 

Paul Elliot, 73, who himself suffered from coronavirus last March, has opened an Etsy shop selling a £10 mask with a photograph of him and his brother Barry – who died in 2018. 

The words ‘2 Metre U’ feature underneath – a reference to current social-distancing guidelines as well as a pun on the Chuckle Brothers’ catchphrase, ‘To me, to you’.

The Etsy shop, called PaulChucklesShop, sells other items with the same slogan including a magnetic jigsaw puzzle, a coffee mug and a £30 hoodie.

Mr Elliot has so far sold 1,416 items and his shop has been rated five stars by 91 users. 

One customer wrote: ‘I got one for myself and then one for my Dad and sister as Christmas presents and they love them too. 

‘Really nice quality and very comfortable, and a bonus that I get to show off my love for the Chuckle Brothers.’

And another said: ‘Superb quality, a fab design which washes perfectly at 60°. 

‘I am the envy of the neighbourhood now (but my husband more than anyone!) Thank you, I will be back for more.’  

Last year Mr Chuckle revealed he was ill with coronavirus, telling his Twitter followers in a video message: ‘I have been laid up with COVID-19 for a good few days, just mild, but it was there and it’s not nice, I promise you, so please, please stay inside.

Mr Chuckle and his brother Barry shot to fame with their slapstick-style and catchphrase ‘to me, to you’.

They won talent show Opportunity Knocks in 1967 before starring in the BBC show ChuckleVision for 21 series from 1987 to 2009.
