A university graduate has shared an embarrassing spelling error on their teaching degree.
The former University of Queensland student posted a photo of their degree to Reddit this week to show that the institution failed to correctly spell ‘education’.
The certificate from 2004 instead says the graduate, whose name is blurred out, completed a ‘bachelor of educatoin’.
The slip-up may not have been noticed by university staff as the mistake is two letters swapped around the wrong way.
Reddit users were quick to make light of the misspelt word, even declaring it to be typical of Australian culture.
‘My father would always tell me the Australian motto is ”close enough is good enough”,’ one person wrote.

‘I have a degree from there too. Better check the spelling on it when I get home,’ another commented.
A third said: ‘Thanks. I got a chuckle out of this.’
The Reddit user posted the picture with the caption, ‘Queensland: The Smart State’.
The University of Queensland was founded in 1909 and is primarily located in Brisbane.
According to QS world university rankings, the institution currently comes in at number 46.
