Footy star Adam Elliott sent his former teammate a text apologising for ‘betraying’ him the morning after kissing his fiancee at a boozy housewarming party.
Ex-Bulldogs hooker Michael Lichaa and his partner Kara Childerhouse had invited Elliott over to their new home in Connells Point, in Sydney’s south, on February 13.
But at 4.30am the next morning, Lichaa woke up to find Elliott – who is also in a long-term relationship – ‘making out’ with Childerhouse on the back deck of their home.
Elliott, 26, a Bulldogs second-rower, has largely refused to talk about what happened that night after both the NRL and the club deemed the matter private.
But new text messages sent by Elliott to Lichaa in the hours after the incident have shed light on the love triangle.

‘Hey Lich, I’m so sorry for betraying you and our friendship mate,’ Elliot texted at 3.56pm, according to messages seen by The Sydney Morning Herald and obtained by police to be used as evidence.
‘I’ve got some serious deep issues with drinking and last night I made the biggest mistake of my life I’m so sorry I’ve hurt you and hurt [Elliot’s partner] Robyn. Never in a million years did I ever think I’d do this to you I can’t say how sorry I am.’
Elliott had earlier texted him at 12.12pm to say: ‘Hey bro f*** I’ve heard you’re going in for surgery. I don’t care if you hate me I love you mate I just want you to be OK.’
A day before the housewarming party, Elliott had texted Lichaa ‘let get magget’.
Court documents allege Lichaa and Childerhouse had argued earlier in the evening of the housewarming after she accused him of being unfaithful.
Licha went to sleep but awoke at 4.30am and caught the pair in an ‘intimate act’, the documents allege.
He then allegedly flew into a rage, assaulting his partner and smashing four windows, causing deep lacerations to his forearm that later required surgery.
Lichaa, 27, has been charged with a series of offences including common assault, destroying or damaging property and stalking/intimidation causing fear of physical harm.
Lichaa has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

In Elliott’s statement last week he credited those around him for their support as he discussed his mental state.
‘I’m really lucky I have a really supportive club, supportive teammates and a supportive system around me,’ Elliott said.
‘I was able to focus on what I am here to do and the job I am here to do for this club.
‘I am a Bulldogs man through and through.
‘I love this place, that’s going to be my focus moving forward.’
The Bulldogs confirmed last week Elliott would seek help for alcohol issues, which the club would monitor.
