- Morty Australian shepherd, four, is filmed playing games of Connect 4 and Jenga
- Owner, student Florian Beck, 28, taught the dog to play with amazing precision
- Morty gently takes each piece in his mouth and strategically drops it into place
This is the astonishing moment a dog plays Connect 4 and Jenga with his owner – placing the counters and removing the bricks with impressive precision.
Morty, a four-year-old Australian shepherd, has been taught to play the games by his owner, Florian Beck, a 28-year-old student.
Footage shows the duo from Stuttgart, Germany, first playing a game of Connect 4.
Morty gently takes each counter in his mouth before dropping it into place. He even blocks some of Mr Beck’s attempts to get four counters in a line and win the game.
With each turn the pooch gets a treat and encouragement from his owner, but that doesn’t stop him from focusing on the game.
After each go the dog appears to look at the board to see where his owner has dropped his counter before making his move.
Despite putting in a near game-winning performance Morty is outwitted when his component scores a diagonal win.
In the video the pair then move onto Jenga, with Morty using his mouth to grab the pieces Mr Beck points to before carefully placing them on top of the pile.

Mr Beck said: ‘Morty is a super cute and cuddly dog, but he wants to work and needs a job, otherwise he gets restless and bored.’
The student has even taught Morty how to fetch him a beer and his phone.
The pair also performing several acrobatic tricks together which require Morty to balance on Mr Beck’s back, as well as a trick in which the dog fall backwards in to his arms in a ‘trust fall’.
He added: ‘He is such a good boy who trusts me completely. Love it!’
