A 66-year-old man has drowned in northern Tasmania while trying to secure a boat in rough weather.
The man was inside a small vessel when it capsized in the Tamar River in Deviot around 2.40pm on Wednesday.
Police found the man after a witness called emergency services. He couldn’t be revived.

He was wearing a personal flotation device and was attempting to secure another boat after its moorings came loose, police say.
Tasmania’s north has been hit by wild winds and rain over the past few days.
Police have reminded all boat users to be aware of weather conditions and safety when on the water.
An investigation will be conducted for the coroner and Marine and Safety Tasmania.
