Mike Pence purchases $1.9 million Indiana mansion in one of the wealthiest areas of the Midwest

Mike Pence and his wife have returned to their Midwest roots at a newly purchased mansion in one of the most exclusive neighborhoods in Indiana.

The 62-year-old former Vice President, who is rumored to be preparing for a presidential run as the Republican candidate in 2024, purchased a new home in the Indiana suburbs of Carmel for $1.93 million last month.

The ‘picturesque’ 10,300 square-foot home sits on a five-acre lot and has seven bedrooms, 7.5 bathrooms and an in-ground pool, according to the listing for the home on realtor.com

Listed as the home you would want ‘if you want all the luxury’s of life,’ the mansion features a dock overlooking a pond, an indoor basketball court with three baskets, a workout room, and a large screened in porch that features a ceiling fan, fireplace and a BBQ grill.

The mansion was first listed on April 1 and Pence placed an offer a week later, the New York Post reported.

Pence closed the sale of the home on May 25 for $1.93 million, more than the initial asking price of $1.8 million.

The purchase came not so long after he signed a $3 million to $4 million publishing contract with Simon & Schuster to author two books in early April.

CNN first reported news of the deal, with the publisher saying the first book – on Pence’s faith and time in public service – has been tentatively scheduled for release in 2023.

‘Pence will address the many pivotal moments of the administration, from the time he was selected to run as Vice President through Inauguration Day on January 20, 2021,’ a release from the publisher said.

The former partners could potentially be rivals in the 2024 election.

While Trump has not officially said if he will launch a bid for the White House in 2024, he has hinted at a run and said he would wait until the 2022 midterms to make any sort of announcement.

Since the end of his presidency on January 20, Trump and Pence have had a rather stale relationship. It seems the two have not spoken since leaving office.

Trump feels that Pence could have done more to stop Congress from certifying the Electoral College results for Joe Biden’s victory when he presided over the joint session on January 6.

MAGA rioters stormed the Capitol building on January 6 as the then-Vice President was ratifying the result of the 2020 election, with some chanting: ‘Hang Mike Pence!’ when he said he did not have the power to overturn Joe Biden’s victory.

Pence, his wife Karen and daughter Charlotte were hurried to a secure facility with seconds to spare, as protesters rampaged through the building and came within yards of breaching the Senate chamber.

Pence announced his intent to move back to his home state following the end of his first and only term as Vice President on Inauguration Day this year, Indystar.com reported.

‘I’ve already promised Karen will be moving back to Indiana come this summer.’ Pence said at the time.

The Indiana native represented his home state as a congressman for over a decade, from 2001 to 2013.

He then served as governor of Indiana from 2013 to 2017, until his stint as Vice President alongside Republican Donald Trump until January 2021.

The Pences chose an upscale neighborhood for their post-Vice presidency life.

The city of Carmel was recently named the second wealthiest city in the Midwest, according to a study by personal finance site nerdwallet.com

‘There’s no place like home and Indiana is home,’ his wife Karen told USA Today in a statement last month.
