An unlikely pair of furry friends have been spotted crossing a flooded creek together, with a tiny lamb being helped along by her canine companion.

Footage captured by Jo Calliss, who lives in Port Lincoln, South Australia, shows her Anatolian sheepdog Abla patiently guiding a seven-week-old lamb called June across a waterway while out on a walk.

Ms Calliss says June was quite hesitant about crossing the water.

The adorable video shows the sheep looking back at Abla for assistance when she isn’t sure what to do next as she reaches some submerged stepping stones.

Once Abla has walked past with ease, June happily trots off after her friend.

Ms Calliss told Storyful that June was attacked by a fox when she was just a day old.

She said that June suffered severe head and leg wounds after being attacked in broad daylight while Abla, a livestock guardian dog whose name aptly means ‘big sister’, was off-duty.

‘She’s made a remarkable recovery and adores all of her doggy friends but especially Abla,’ Ms Calliss said, adding that the pair are ‘inseparable’.

In a Twitter post, Jo said that Abla’s goal in life is to protect her sheep.
