A toddler was savaged in a vicious dog attack in an Adelaide playground after asking the owner if he could pet his two blue heeler-kelpie dogs.
His mother watched in horror as the four-year-old boy bent down to stroke one dog on a leash before the second unleashed dog launched at him.
The dog snapped at the boy’s mouth, ripping open his top lip, before the owner grabbed both animals and fled the scene at Yalumba Drive, Paralowie.

The child was rushed to Women’s and Children’s Hospital and underwent surgery to his face on Monday with medics fearing he may be scarred for life by the mauling.
Police have now launched a manhunt for the owner who was said to be white, in his mid-40s and wearing a light blue/grey shirt and dark-coloured pants.
‘When the woman and boy approached the man, they asked to pat the dogs, to which he agreed,’ said a police spokesman on Tuesday.
‘When the boy went to pat the dog on a leash, the unleashed dog bit the boy on the face, causing injury to his upper lip. The man then picked up both dogs and ran off.
