A drug-abusing father who savagely beat his two-year-old daughter sent sick texts before and after hurting her so badly she will need ‘lifelong care’, a court has heard.

The man from regional Victoria texted his partner that he felt like ‘flogging’ the toddler before a family member found the toddler with disturbing injuries.

Mildura County Court heard the man’s attack on his own child left the little girl with a ‘widespread brain injury’ which will require lifelong care, The Herald Sun reported.

The toddler’s mum had arranged for the man, from Robinvale, to help her out by caring for the child because she needed support.

The mother told Victorian Police the child was healthy when she left the home.

Before the assault the man sent ominous messages to his partner, the court was told.

In the message, the man said he would give the ‘stupid’ and ‘dumb’ child back and go to Melbourne because his mental state could lead him to hurting someone.

The vile texts included calling his own daughter a ‘dumb c***’, complaining that she wouldn’t eat and that he would ‘fill her poxy mouth n hold [food] in there for hours’.

Another text stated ‘I feel like flog the s*** out of the c***.’

He also claimed the child was ‘a dead weight’ and the messages indicated he was angry the child was happy with other people but not him.

After the toddler was taken to hospital, the man reportedly texted his own father, admitting he had ‘flogged’ someone and ‘wasn’t in control’, the court also heard.

A date was fixed for sentence and the names of the victim and her mother suppressed by the court.
