Electronic tickets must be booked at least an hour before arrival at nightclubs and live venues

Digital tickets must be booked at least one hour before arrival at nightclubs and live venues under the new ticketing system set to kick in later this week.

ub and live sector representative groups have been told by Government officials this morning that no congregation will be allowed at the entrance of the venue and that ticket holders only will be allowed in queue.

Officials have also said that tickets will be needed for late bars which transition into nightclubs in the course of the evening – however, it is up to operators to put this system in place.

It is understood that dancing will be the “trigger” as to whether or not tickets will be needed.

Regulations for the new ticketing system will be published by Government on Thursday.

It is understood officials said that the new ticketing system should be in place on Thursday.

However, the meeting heard from pub representatives how it will be difficult to put in place such a system at such short notice.

One source said that the digital tickets will be “essential” but that the question now is whether they can be rolled out quickly enough.

Industry representatives also requested a two week moratorium on the new regulations at the meeting.

Another meeting between the sector and officials is due to take place in the coming days.
