Labor’s homebuying scheme is ‘generous policy’

REA Group Economist Angus Moore says Labor’s new homebuying scheme is a “generous policy”.

“The scheme is not available to everyone, so it’s capped to ten thousand places,” he told Sky News Australia.

“It’s means-tested … it is quite a generous policy, the way to think about is the government owns 30 per cent of your home, they’re 30 per cent your landlord but they don’t charge you on any rent on that fraction.

“For those people that get it, it’s very generous.”
