Albanese set to cut budget ‘waste’

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese is warning his government’s first budget will put the brakes on spending – in a bid to limit “waste” in budget deficits.

The government is considering potential cuts to social and health services like Newstart – despite pressure from state and territory leaders.

The Prime Minister has pledged to cut down on “waste” in the budget – but said his government has no plans to repeal the planned income tax cuts originally put forward by the Coalition.
