Jeroen Weimar to lead Victoria’s Commonwealth Games organising committee after resigning as the state’s COVID-19 Response Commander in April

The veteran bureaucrat was tipped to head the organising committee of Victoria’s Commonwealth Games after he stepped down from his role as the state’s COVID-19 Response Commander in April. 

Former COVID-19 response commander Jeroen Weimar has been officially appointed as Chief Executive Officer of Victoria’s 2026 Commonwealth Games organising committee.

Mr Weimar, who has held senior positions at VicRoads and Public Transport Victoria, will be responsible for coordinating the Games’ return to Victoria.
