Premier Dominic Perrottet has defended the government’s plan to increase fines to unions of essential workers such as those in transport, teachers, nurses and midwives.

NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet has defended the government’s plan to increase fines for illegal industrial amid plans by nurses and teachers to walk off the job next week.

Unions could be hit with a $55,000 fine on the first day of industrial action and $27,500 for each day thereafter in response to unions threatening to strike further over wages.
