Situation is ‘really bad’ in Afghanistan following powerful earthquake


International Committee of the Red Cross spokesperson Lucien Christen says relatives are going back to their homes in Afghanistan and discovering the “scale and the magnitude of the destruction” following the earthquake.

“The official counts now are mentioning over a thousand people who lost their lives, over 1,600 who are injured, this count is … sadly likely to increase over the next hours and probably days,” he told Sky News Australia.
