Tourist tax proposed for Queensland


Travellers would have to pay to see some of Queensland’s iconic attractions under a new plan to boost state tourism revenue.

A proposal from the Queensland Tourism Industry Reference Panel suggests local councils or tourism bodies introduce visitor taxes.

User fees would also be brought in for natural assets such as national parks.

Tourist taxes exist in many parts of the world but have previously been shot down in Queensland.
