Embattled UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has had further pressure put on him after two by-election defeats and a high-profile resignation.

His Conservative Party suffered a historic collapse in its vote, losing seats to the Liberal Democrats and Labour.

The defeats prompted Conservatives’ Chairman Oliver Dowden to resign – saying the party’s supporters were “distressed and disappointed by recent events” and he was as well.
