Nationals Leader David Littleproud says he would like to see “more women” in the party and wants to create a “comfortable environment” for them to stand up for a position.

He said men need to be strong in creating an environment where women feel comfortable putting their hands up.

“I want to create an environment where they feel comfortable coming forward,” Mr Littleproud told Sky News Australia.

“Invariably I believe that they would shine through.”
