‘Concrete actions’: Beijing welcomes recent interactions between China and Australia following a tumultuous period


A Beijing spokesperson has welcomed recent interactions between Australian and Chinese officials – but says a reset in relations requires “concrete actions”.

Beijing’s Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Zhao Lijian has welcomed recent interactions between Chinese and Australian officials, as he pushed for “concrete actions” to reset the strained relationship.

Mr Zhao made the comments during a media briefing on Tuesday, as Penny Wong negotiates to set up a meeting with her Chinese counterpart Wang Yi on the sidelines of this week’s G20 summit for foreign ministers in Bali.
