NSW Health warns of ‘likely’ monkeypox transmission in Australia

NSW residents are being urged to be aware of the symptoms of monkeypox over fears two new cases of the viral disease were likely acquired in Australia.  

People across New South Wales have been asked to remain vigilant about the symptoms of monkeypox, following the “likely transmission” of the viral disease in Australia.  

A total of 11 cases have now been recorded across the state and while nine of those were likely acquired overseas the remaining cases were likely acquired here, NSW Health says.
