Sunak, Truss face off in UK leadership debate


The two candidates vying to replace UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson have faced off in a televised debate in front of undecided Conservative voters.

Former chancellor Rishi Sunak and Foreign Secretary Liz Truss are the last two contenders in the race, which was triggered when Prime Minister Boris Johnson resigned after losing the support of his MPs.

The leadership rivals are proposing markedly different policies to deal with Britain’s looming economic recession, which has dominated the Tory leadership campaign.
