Shadow foreign affairs minister Simon Birmingham warns Labor about Solomon Islands’ Huawei deal and China loan

Shadow Foreign Minister Simon Birmingham has warned Labor that there must be communication with the Solomon Islands amid its announcement it would borrow almost $100 million from China to purchase 161 broadband towers from Huawei.

Mr Birmingham told Sky News Australia on Friday morning the new arrangement presented a “number of questions” on what conversations were held between the Albanese Government and the Solomon Islands about security.
