Russian President Vladimir Putin is offering a generous sum of money to women if they give birth to 10 or more children in a move aimed to address the country’s demographic crisis.
The award scheme, known as Mother Heroine, will see the women receive a one-off payment of one million rubles (A$23,800) after their 10th child’s first birthday.
The payment – which is more than the average national salary of 78,000 rubles according to Russia Beyond – will only be made provided the nine other children remain alive.
