Coal miner New Hope’s profits jump more than 1,000 per cent

Sky News Business Reporter Ed Boyd says coal miner New Hope’s profits have jumped more than 1,000 per cent due to record coal prices.

“They’ve got a pretty strong outlook for coal – there’s a big energy crisis in Europe,” he said.

“They’ve got a lot of customers in the Asian areas that are constantly buying more and more coal, so there’s high demand for coal.

“Their profit was almost a billion dollars this year.”
