National Day of Mourning is ‘literally payroll theft’


Small Business Australia Executive Director Bill Lang says there are many “upset small business owners” and families amid National Day of Mourning.

“This is literally payroll theft,” Mr Lang told Sky News Australia.

“There’s about nine million employees in private businesses … business are paying out $2.73 billion for no work which is just extra cost.

“If you want to give a day off to all Australians, why shouldn’t all Australians pay for it with respect to the government paying for it?”
