Hurricane Ian: Reporter hit by branch as he braves shocking conditions to report on 200km/h wind gusts in Florida


American reporter Jim Cantor has stared down deadly conditions brought on by Hurricane Ian in southwestern Florida.

Footage showed the 58-year-old meteorologist brave the terrifying weather event on the streets of Punta Gorda, facing wind gusts of up to 177km/h.

The Weather Channel star was barely visible during his live cross when a branch hurtled towards him, bringing him to his hands and knees as it wrapped around his ankle.
