Myanmar’s military court sentences Suu Kyi to 3 years in jail for violation of secret act


A military junta court in Myanmar sentenced ousted leader Aung San Suu Kyi and her Australian economic adviser to three years in prison on charges of violation of the official secret act, local media reported on Thursday.

Suu Kyi and Australian professor Sean Turnell were convicted by Pyinmana District Court in violation of the official secret act after 18 months of hearings, local news agency Myanmar Now reported.
