‘Extreme overreach’: Frydenberg speaks out against Morrison’s ministerial appointments


Former treasurer Josh Frydenberg has spoken for the first time against Scott Morrison’s ministerial appointments, calling the saga an “extreme overreach”.

Mr Frydenberg’s comments, which were detailed in a new book, come on the same day former High Court justice Virginia Bell is expected to hand the findings of a three-month investigation into the matter to Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.

Mr Frydenberg says he does not believe Mr Morrison had a reason to take on the additional Treasury portfolio, and it was wrong for the former prime minister to not have made the decision transparent.
