‘A remarkable outcome’: Australia’s first female astronaut

Australian Space Agency Head, Enrico Palermo says after over a year of a “rigorous” screening process, Dr Meganne Christian has been selected to become Australia’s first female astronaut.

Mr Palermo told Sky News Australia the result is a “remarkable outcome” that shows “anything is possible”.

“She’ll have a consultancy contract with the European Space Agency, where she’ll do annual training and essentially be on a call up list for potential missions that match her particular area of expertise as a scientist.
