More housing needed for women and children’s safety


Homelessness Australia CEO Kate Colvin says more housing is needed for women and children’s safety as the private rental market vacancy rates hit a record low.

“Even though women and children would get a high priority for housing that’s available there’s just not the housing for them,” Ms Colvin told Sky news Australia.

“It puts women in a situation where they have to choose between being stuck in homelessness or returning to the violence.”
