Taiwan election: China interference claims, candidate bashings, vote-buying scandals


Taiwan’s local midterm elections have produced plenty of drama and intrigue as more than 11,000 positions in 22 cities and counties will be decided on Saturday.

Candidates physically beaten, vote-buying scandals and claims of foreign plots have come out of this election cycle.

Some have claimed the results will influence whether Taiwan remains a democracy or becomes under the control of Communist China, according to reports by Sky News Asia Correspondent Brent O’Halloran.
