Local residents evacuated in Gold Coast suburb of Labrador as police try to negotiate with man threatening to blow up gas bottle

A siege in Queensland’s south is entering its 14th hour after a man locked himself inside a home and reportedly threatened to blow up a gas bottle.

Police were called to a property on Brown Street in the Gold Coast suburb of Labrador on Tuesday about 4:30pm after a disturbance was reported.

Officers spoke with the man, who is believed to be in the house on his own and unharmed, and began negotiations for several hours.
