Islamabad, Pakistan – On a current October night, 41-year-old Shakira Aslami was washing dishes within the tiny kitchen of her two-room condo when she heard a commotion exterior.

As she opened the door, her son rushed in. “They’re right here, the police are right here,” Milad instructed his mom in a panic.
