A lion was seen roaming the streets of an Italian seaside city after escaping from a circus on Saturday night (11 November).

Footage shared by LAV, an Italian non-profit organisation, exhibits the massive cat strolling by the darkish and abandoned streets of Ladispoli, close to Rome.

Alessandro Grando, the mayor of Ladispoli, confirmed that legislation enforcement have been “shortly on the scene”.

Six hours after his authentic message, Mr Grando mentioned the lion had been “sedated and captured” and could be taken again by circus workers.

“I hope that this episode can stir some consciences and that we are able to lastly put an finish to the exploitation of animals in circuses,” he added.
