Uttarakhand tunnel collapse: How the 17-day India rescue unfolded


India has celebrated the rescue of 41 development employees who had been trapped in a collapsed tunnel within the Himalayas for 17 days.

The employees had been greeted with applause and conventional marigold garlands as they emerged from a metal pipe that had been pushed by way of the rubble.

Here is how the rescue operation, which took over 400 hours and was affected by mishaps, unfolded.
