Christmas journey plans for 1000’s of holidaygoers have been thrown into chaos after a finances airline scrapped flights between two main Australian cities. 

Australia’s latest low-cost airline Bonza has cancelled flights between Darwin and the Gold Coast in the course of the entirety of December, making the announcement on Thursday. 

The airline’s first flight between the 2 cities was resulting from take off final week nevertheless the service has blamed ‘regulatory approval processes’ for the difficulty.

The announcement has thrown Christmas journey plans into disarray with round 1,600 clients affected by the cancellations.  

The airline stated round 1,100 clients have now been provided flights to Queensland’s Sunshine Coast as a substitute.  

CEO of Bonza Tim Jordan stated in an announcement that flights to the Gold Coast will now be run by their Canadian counterparts Aptitude because the finances airline continues to rent extra employees. 

‘As we’ve beforehand shared, within the quick time period we’ll use an plane leased from our associate Aptitude at our Gold Coast base while we recruit Aussie crew for this third base,’ Mr Jordan stated. 

‘This association brings with it a separate regulatory approval course of. That course of is progressing however just isn’t but full and consequently, we’ve needed to make the regrettable resolution to defer some flights between Gold Coast and Darwin within the coming weeks.’

‘We’re aware of the impression this has on our clients and we’re very sorry for this.’ 

Mr Jordan stated the airline is working with clients impacted by the cancellation and stated they would offer a full refund to those that at the moment are unable to journey because of the cancellation. 

‘At this level our precedence is to help our impacted clients as effectively as attainable in order that they will make various preparations,’ Mr Jordan stated.

Bonza introduced the Darwin to Gold Coast route in September together with two different journey routes between Darwin and the Sunshine Coast and Alice Springs to Melbourne.

Flights between Darwin to the Gold Coast have been set to begin in late November. 

The scrapped flights have disrupted the journey plans of Aussies reminiscent of father of three Corey Reichstein, after he saved as much as take his household all the way down to the Gold Coast for his or her first vacation in 5 years. 

‘We just about spent all of our financial savings getting the cash collectively to fly into the Gold Coast, and the theme parks with the youngsters,’ Mr Reichstein advised the ABC. 

‘Yesterday (Thursday), we received an e mail from Bonza explaining that they could not truly fly us into the Gold Coast.’

The airline stated flights between the Gold Coast and Darwin would resume in January 2024. 

Bonza entered the Australian airline market in January 2023 as ‘Australia’s new and solely impartial, low price airline’.

The airline operates a number of flights throughout a number of interstate locations together with NSW and Victoria.
