Dozens of flights have been cancelled or delayed at Melbourne Airport on account of foggy situations
‘If this fog sticks round that’ll most likely decelerate the variety of plane we will get into the airport and that’ll cascade via into delays,’ he instructed 3AW earlier on Tuesday.
‘We’re hoping the fog will carry quickly. What occurs is air site visitors management, due to lowered visibility, has to place extra spacing between arriving plane so it slows down the variety of plane that may arrive.’
Mr Lund mentioned Monday’s situations had been ‘fairly ugly’, with flights impacted by low clouded fog.
‘All up we had 105 home flights cancelled throughout arrivals and departures and some worldwide flights cancelled as properly,’ he mentioned.
‘It was fairly messy and since the airways are so full for the time being it triggered lots of bother.’
