Not less than 12 gunmen have been killed by the Mexican military in a shootout in Mexico close to the border with the USA, in response to officers.

The troopers have been on patrol within the municipality of Miguel Aleman, alongside the Texas border, after they have been attacked by ‘armed civilians,’ Tamaulipas state’s safety company mentioned in a press release printed on X.

The company didn’t reply to questions on whether or not any troopers have been killed or injured within the shootout.

The state of Tamaulipas has varied organized crime teams, whose most important actions embrace human smuggling and drug trafficking, authorities say.

Officers mentioned they seized 12 lengthy weapons, cartridges and magazines of varied calibers.
