Nation legend Dolly Parton is praising Beyoncé after the celebrity’s new music “Texas Maintain ‘Em” reached the highest of the Billboard sizzling nation songs chart.
In a social media publish Thursday, Parton wrote that she’s a “massive fan” of Beyoncé and “very excited that she’s performed a rustic album.”
“So congratulations in your Billboard Scorching Nation primary single,” she wrote. “Cannot wait to listen to the complete album!”
The message comes as Texas Maintain ‘Em debuted as No. 1, making Beyoncé the primary Black lady to attain a No. 1 hit within the historical past of Billboard’s sizzling nation songs checklist. The milestone marked a cultural shift for nation music, a style usually seen as unique and that for many years has had a fraught relationship with artists of coloration.
The nation hit is an ode to the pop celebrity’s residence state, and the lead single off her forthcoming eighth studio album, dropped through the Tremendous Bowl, alongside one other monitor titled “16 Carriages.” The brand new album seems to be nation and will probably be launched on March 29.
Her music virtually instantly sparked controversy, after KYKC-FM, a rustic radio radio station in Oklahoma, initially declined to play the artist. The station supervisor later informed CBS Information he hadn’t recognized Beyoncé had launched two nation songs and confirmed he had added “Texas Maintain ‘Em” to the station’s playlist after outcry from the Beyhive — Beyoncé’s ardent fanbase.
