A state of emergency has been declared in Iceland after a volcano erupted for the fourth time since December, spewing orange lava into the air.
“Warning: An eruption started in Reykjanes,” the Icelandic Meteorological Workplace mentioned on its web site Saturday.
Previous to the newest eruption, Iceland’s Civil Safety Company warned of an imminent eruption.
“Since October 24, scientists on the Icelandic Met Workplace have been monitoring an increase in seismic exercise on the Reykjanes Peninsula, which can sign an impending volcanic eruption,” officers mentioned.

Icelandic police introduced that that they had declared a state of emergency for the realm and the Civil Protection authorities dispatched a helicopter to survey the extent of the eruption.

The city’s residents have been evacuated since November after the short succession of erupting volcanoes.
“As a precautionary measure, the city was evacuated on November 10 to prioritize the security of its residents. Evacuations will stay in impact till seismic exercise subsides,” the company mentioned.
