Russia elections: Vladimir Putin seeks fifth time period in tightly-controlled election

As I stroll round Borovsk, two issues strike me about this city 60 miles (100km) from Moscow.

First, there’s nearly no signal of the presidential election arising this weekend.

I see few election banners or billboards and no political flyers being handed out.

Not stunning, actually. The absence of election preparations mirrors the absence of drama surrounding a stage-managed occasion that can hand Vladimir Putin a fifth time period within the Kremlin.
