An earthquake with a powerful magnitude of seven.4 struck off jap Taiwan Wednesday morning native time, triggering tsunami warnings.

The earthquake struck about 11 miles from Hualien Metropolis, Taiwan, in accordance with the US Geological Survey. It was adopted by a 6.5-magnitude earthquake.

The U.S. Tsunami Warning System issued a warning of attainable hazardous tsunami waves attainable for coasts inside 300 km (about 186 miles) from the earthquake’s epicenter, saying China, Taiwan and Japan could also be affected.

Japan additionally issued a tsunami alert for the southern Japanese island group of Okinawa, and Japan’s meteorological company forecast a tsunami of as much as 3 meters (9.8 ft).
