KEARNS — A person who might have suffered an unknown medical situation died over the weekend shortly after being detained by police throughout a home violence investigation.
Unified police have been referred to as at 11:58 p.m. Friday to a house close to 5350 South and 5500 West on a report of a home violence incident involving weapons. A person with a weapon was threatening members of the family, stated Unified Police Sgt. Aymee Race. Police haven’t stated what that weapon was.
By the point officers arrived, one of many members of the family was in a position to pin the person down and maintain him till police acquired there, Race stated. Police entered the house and handcuffed the person. However nearly instantly, the officers seen that the person was not respiration correctly and wanted medical consideration.
{The handcuffs} have been taken off and officers offered medical assist, based on Race. The person, whose identify was not instantly launched, was pronounced useless on the scene after medical crews arrived.
Because of the man being positioned in handcuffs and passing away, Race stated an officer-involved crucial incident protocol was launched out of an abundance of warning. The loss of life will likely be investigated by the Salt Lake Metropolis Police Division, which can then flip its findings over to the Salt Lake County District Lawyer’s Workplace.
