NEW YORK – Cornell College president Martha E. Pollack will step down on the finish of June, she introduced Thursday. 

Pollack’s resignation comes amid pro-Palestinian protests which have swept school campuses throughout the nation. 

She’s the third president of an Ivy League faculty to step down since December.

Earlier, Harvard president Claudine Homosexual resigned, as did College of Pennsylvania president Liz Magill. These resignations got here on the heels of broadly criticized testimony earlier than Congress. New York Metropolis Colleges Chancellor David Banks testified earlier than the identical Congressional committee earlier this week

Pollack addressed the protests in her retirement announcement.

“Certainly, I started deliberating about this final fall, and made the choice over the December break; however 3 times, as I used to be able to act on it, I needed to pause due to occasions on our and/or on different campuses. Pollack’s announcement comes as Home Speaker Mike Johnson continues to name for Columbia College President Minouche Shafik to be fired for her dealing with of protests there. Columbia College canceled its principal graduation ceremony within the wake of quite a few protests. Their smaller commencement ceremonies start Friday.
