French submit workplace releases scratch-and-sniff baguette stamp | Stamps

The French Submit Workplace has launched a scratch-and-sniff postage stamp to have fun the baguette, as soon as described by President Emmanuel Macron as “250 grams of magic and perfection”.

The stamp, which prices €1.96, depicts a baguette embellished with a pink, white and blue ribbon. It has a print run of 594,000 copies.

In line with the Parisian store Le Carre d’encre, which sells it, the stamp has a “bakery scent”. The ink used on the stamps comprises microcapsules which give the perfume.

It was launched on the market on Friday, after a launch on Thursday, the day of Saint-Honoré, the patron saint of bakers and pastry cooks.

“The baguette, the bread of our each day lives, the image of our gastronomy, the jewel of our tradition”, La Poste says on its web site.

“This scent is encapsulated. We purchase it from one other producer,” Damien Lavaud, printer at Philaposte, advised France Bleu.

“And the issue for us is to use this ink with out breaking the capsules, in order that the scent can then be launched by the shopper rubbing on the stamp.”

The French baguette was given Unesco heritage standing in 2022.
