A BBC presenter has revealed why he missed his traditional radio programme after he was rushed to hospital following a ‘terrifying’ accident at house. 

Radio listeners tuning into BBC Radio Ulster on Friday morning weren’t greeted by the voice of the present’s traditional host Stephen Nolan however that of Chris Buckler – who was standing in for Mr Nolan. 

Mr Nolan, who in 2023 took house an eye-watering wage of £400,000, rang into the present to clarify to viewers the rationale for his absence. 

He stated: ‘I used to be making an attempt to maneuver 10 packing containers of tiles that have been standing towards the cabinet and I did not realise how heavy tiles have been so all of them landed on my huge toe.’

He added in a separate put up on X: ‘At present hasn’t been good. Huge pile of ground tiles which aren’t fitted but standing up in packing containers – I beneath estimated their weight & pulled them in direction of me to open a drawer they have been leaning towards. 

‘They landed on my foot as I went crashing to the ground. Not a superb look & my huge toe is swelling !’  

Followers rushed to point out their assist for the favored Northern Irish presenter. One wrote: ‘Appears to be like nasty, hope all is okay.’

One other stated: ‘How painful it seems! I hope it won’t have an effect on your airing of the Nolan Present.’ 

In 2023,  Mr Nolan was the BBC’s fifth highest paid broadcaster forward of different well-known faces together with Query Time host Fiona Bruce and BBC Information presenter Sophie Raworth.
