1 individual, 2 cows killed in Cache County semitruck collision

WELLSVILLE, Cache County — Troopers have recognized a Cache County man killed when his automobile struck a semitruck hauling cattle Friday morning, killing two cows.

A Thunderbird was heading west on state Route 101 close to the junction with U.S. 91, when it crossed over into the eastbound lanes round 6:39 a.m. The automobile then hit a semi head on, Utah Freeway Patrol Lt. Cameron Roden stated.

Robert C. Downs, 44, from Wellsville was driving the Thunderbird and was transported to the hospital, however died shortly after arriving. Roden stated the semi driver was unhurt, however the truck was hauling cattle and two cows have been killed within the crash.

State Route 101 was closed for a number of hours whereas troopers responded to the accident.
