Newcastle have accepted an offer of around £33million from Brighton for Yankuba Minteh, and that could be enough to keep stars such as Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon at the club.
The Magpies have been battling to avoid a Premier League points deduction for failing to comply with Profit and Sustainability Rules, and they need to sell before Sunday night’s accounting-period deadline.
Minteh, 19, is now set for a medical with the South Coast club.
The Gambia international had also been offered to Nottingham Forest as Newcastle tried various permutations to meet their PSR requirements.
Mail Sport revealed last week that Lyon had offered £40m for the winger which Newcastle were ready to accept but the Gambia international was reluctant to go and was holding out for Everton.

However, Everton was only available if Dominic Calvert-Lewin went the other way.
Brighton have remained in the race and Minteh is interested in joining them but they have been reluctant to meet Newcastle’s asking price knowing the PSR issues they face.
They have been willing to offer a player too but it is understood not one in a position Newcastle need.
Newcastle have also offered Minteh to Forest in talks over a deal for Anthony Elanga. Elliot Anderson had also been discussed in negotiations with Forest as first revealed by Mail Sport on Saturday.
