An pressing search is underway for a driver after a person was killed in an alleged hit and run in Sydney’s west. 

Emergency providers rushed to Abell Street in Melonba – a suburb in Blacktown about 51km north west of Sydney’s CBD – at about 11.45pm on Sunday following studies a person was injured on the aspect of the highway. 

Paramedics labored desperately to avoid wasting the person, believed to be aged in his late 70s, however he died on the scene.  

The person has not but been formally recognized. 

Officers have established against the law scene, with investigators from the Crash Investigation Unit forensically inspecting the world. 

Police consider the person was hit by a black sedan which was travelling eastbound on the highway. 

A report might be ready for the Coroner.
