Trump shooting victim’s final words before he was shot and killed heroically shielding his family from gunman – as distraught wife reveals whys he won’t take Biden’s phone call

The final words spoken by a father-of-two who was gunned down at a Trump rally in Pennsylvania have been revealed, as his wife says she will not take President Joe Biden’s phone call because the victim was a ‘devout Republican.’

Corey Comperatore, 50, was killed Saturday night while trying to protect his wife and daughter in the moments after 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks opened fire.

‘He’s my hero,’ his wife, Helen Comperatore, told the New York Post.

‘He just said “Get down!” That was the last thing he said.’

President Biden has since tried to offer the Comperatore family his sympathies, but Helen said she did not want to hear from him.

‘I don’t talk to Biden,’ she said. ‘I didn’t want to talk to him.

‘My husband was a devout Republican and he would not have wanted me to talk to him,’ she explained.

Helen added that she has no ‘ill-will’ towards the president.

‘I’m not one of those people that gets involved in politics,’ she told the Post.

‘I support Trump, that’s who I’m voting for, but I don’t have any ill-will towards Biden.

‘He didn’t do anything to my husband, a 20-year-old despicable kid did.’

Helen said she and her husband, who were high school sweethearts were on the verge of celebrating their 29th wedding anniversary when they headed to the rally in Butler, Pennsylvania to support the former president.

‘Me and the kids were all there as a family,’ she said.

‘He was just excited. It was going to be a nice day with the family.’

Comperatore eagerly shared his plans on X.

But the rally turned into a tragedy when Crooks opened fire from a rooftop just 130 yards away from where Trump was standing.

As he tried to protect his wife and daughter, Comperatore – a former volunteer firefighter – was shot in the head.

An emergency room doctor at Donald Trump’s rally revealed how he performed CPR on Comperatore after he was hit by a bullet intended for the former president.

‘I heard the shots. I thought it was firecrackers begin with. Somebody over there was screaming ‘he’s been shot he’s been shot,” said the man who had blood splattered all over his white USA shirt. ‘So I made my way over. I said I’m an emergency department physician. Let me help you.’

‘The guy had spun around was jammed between the benches and a head shot here,’ he told CBS News.

‘So I got him together so I got people there really helpful. I did CPR chest compressions as well.’

But the 50-year-old was later pronounced dead.

Helen said she now wants America to remember Corey as a ‘very loving husband.’

‘He was a simple man, but he put his wife and kids first all the time,’ she said.

‘I did nothing here. I didn’t lift a finger. He did everything.’

An online fundraiser set up to help the Comperatore family in the aftermath of the tragedy has now raised over $1million.

Donald Trump’s campaign has also raised more than $4million for the families of the three men either killed and wounded during Saturday’s assassination attempt.

As of writing, the number on the Trump-sanctioned GoFundMe was at $4,328,763 – more than four times its initial $1million goal.

All donations will be divvied up by Comperatore’s relatives, as well as those of David Dutch, 57; and James Copenhaver, 74, who were injured in the attack.

The Trump team confirmed the GoFundMe’s authenticity to The Hill, as the two living victims are said to be at hospitals in stable condition.

‘President Donald Trump has authorized this account as a place for donations to the supporters and families wounded or killed in today’s brutal and horrific assassination attempt,’ a description on the highly trafficked webpage reads.

‘All donations will be directed to these proud Americans as they grieve and recover.

‘May God bless and unite our nation,’ it concludes.

More than 358 people proceeded to comment to show their support – as an astronomical 56,5000 people opened up their figurative wallets.

The top donation appeared to be from former Trump donor Steve Wynn, a billionaire former casino operator who has lobbied for the GOP frontrunner relentlessly.

That gift clocked in at an eye-watering $50,000, from a man handpicked by Trump to be finance chair of the Republican National Committee in 2017.

‘The donations that are coming in across the community and across the country, it’s more than I can even imagine,’ Helen told the Post of the fundraisers.

‘It’s more than I can fathom, but he deserves it all. He deserves everything,’ she said of her late husband.

He then stood, pumped his fist and chanted ‘fight, fight, fight’ as Secret Service rushed him off stage and into a motorcade.

An investigation into the shooting is now underway, as officials question how the gunman was able to set up his AR-style rifle just over 100 yards from the former president.
